July 2005 After 8 years of increasing pain and weakness, we have finally received a diagnosis for Ken. He has Myelodysplastic Syndrome, a blood cancer which causes his bone marrow to produce too few healthy adult blood cells. Unfortunately, there is no cure, but there was a 50% chance that an injection of Arinesp (darbapoetin alfa) would work to stimulate the production of these necessary cells.  He is in that fortunate 50%, Praise Our Lord. In addition to having this disease, he suffers from 20 years of diabetes and has severe diffuse neuropathy  together with egregious weakness which cause great pain and makes it difficult to walk and perform normal tasks. The Lord's grace is however is sufficient for him, and sustains him on a daily basis.

March 2008 Our daughter Caitlin was married to Brian Andrew on the 22nd. They have been together for two years and have a daughter, Lillian Grace (15 mo.) together. Shannon was Caitie's maid of honor, and Brian's friend Brent was his best man. The wedding came off with a hitch :), except for Ken falling while attempting to give Caitlin away (it was not one of his good days). They live in Alma, Michigan. Brian works for Centennial Wireless and Caitlin will remain a housewife. She is expecting our Grandson in May!
 
April 2008 We have received further bad news about Ken's health. It appears that he has Parkinson's disease. It is very hard to diagnose, but one of the ways they try is with a medicine which if successful in treatment, indicates a strong possibility of its being Parkinsons. There is also a chance that it is caused by one or more of Ken's medicines, but it's less likely. Please pray with us that it is indeed NOT Parkinsons but only Parkinsonism.

May 2008 On May 3rd Shannon graduated from CMU with her Master's of Business Administration Degree. Now she's looking for a job in the business world while she continues to waitress at Buffalo Wild Wings in Mt. Pleasant. We are very proud parents! This is a huge accomplishment for her! We enjoy spending time with her and her boyfriend, Jason Davis.
Another graduation in May is that of our son, Mark, who graduated from St. Louis High School on May 22. He has been working at McDonald's all summer and is enrolled at Mid Michigan Community College in Mt. Pleasant in the graphics arts department. He has been dating Ashley Marse for over a year.

We have a new member to our family due to the kindness of Brian and Caitie; a NEW BABY! This is a new brother for Lillian. He weighed in at 6 lbs 19 oz and was born on May 16 at 3:26pm. His name is Devin Sean Andrew. Caitie is now handling two babies and doing excellently I might add. Here are some pictures of Devin and of his older sister, Lillian Grace Andrew...
